Currently using boots 1 size too small and they're steel toed. I get a horrible sharp pain in my big toe because of them after an hour of them on, I don't even have to be walking on them.

I only got 25 bucks currently. and I've super glued my work shoes together like 8 times already. I ended up sticking a tac nail into the bottom of them in hopes it would hold better. Should use contact cement but I don't have the funds to even buy that.

As long as it isn't cotton or a cotton derivative I'll wear it.

I only spent big $$$ on my down jacket and waterproof shell. Everything else I've gotten second hand or at Walmart.

Most outdoor clothing is over priced and you're only paying for the name.

Darn Tough socks are $20, a little bit more than Smart Wool products.

The reason you should spend the extra money is because you will never have to buy another pair again in your life.
There is a lifetime warranty for all Darn Tough socks, no questions asked. I met a guy who accidentally burned a hole in them trying to dry them by a fire and Darn Tough still replaced them.

I have a nice pair of boots, running shoes and "sandal-shoes".
My boots are great for winter and really rocky terrain. On the AT, there were definitely moments I was glad I wore my boots.
There were also plenty of times I wished I would have been wearing something lighter.
