Over where I live theres a gathering called Alchemy, where you pay for a ticket onto this giant privately owned field and thousands of people camp out and create a communist society for a week. Guys, the black hills.

Went there last spring for the first time. Harney peak trail completely blew my mind. A local told me that there's an non-popular park called "Custer peak". I tried to get to it, but the road was too rough for my car.

Anyone been there? And does anyone know of something better than harney peak at the black hills?

Former SD resident here. The Black Hills have been in and out of a drought state for like 20 years. A lot of the water sources are also contaminated due to mining activity.

The rest of SD is mostly flat grassland. The only interesting bits are the Black Hills and the badlands.

Most of The Black Hills had healthy trees, but there was just this portion of the harney peak trail that had all those dead trees. I thought it looked pretty awesome personally.

Those guys trashed the place. There was so much garbage left over. There were a lot of needles and used condoms. Bonfires all over the place when it could of started a forest fire.
