That being said, you can usually find a real thermarest on sale from an online retailer if you snoop around a little.
They're not as cushy as the ridgerest (especially if you're a side sleeper) but the accordion fold makes them a lot easier to secure to your pack, plus they can double as a camp seat.
I leave a few panels of my z lite folded up so it makes a bolster for my stuff sack/pillow.
Anyway, if you've got an REI or similar store nearby they should have a few of these out for you to demo and play around with so you can decide which one you want to buy.
