>>548694>What will you fish for? 6.5 to 7 foot medium heavy rod is good all around rod.... I prefer baitcasting reels. Little more difficult to use, but you can cast much further and take up line quicker...... If for trout seriously considering picking up a cheap used fly rod. It's worth it if your fishing shallow rivers for trout . Weight of fly rod depends on what youre fishing for.... Not sure what all fish you have out there.ore detail on what you're going after and I maybe able to provide more details. I primarily fish for bass, but spent a couple weeks a year swinging a fly rod for trout. That rod description sounds like what I'm used to.
For rod and reel I want to be able to set 1 or both passively baiting, and if the situation calls, cast out with lures. Trolling aboot in a smallish boat and ice fishing are possibilities.
Colorado fishing is diverse.
Trout, salmon, catfish, pike, perch, bass, sunfish, crappie, carp & suckers.
Also bullfrogs and using fishing, archery, hand, gigs and nets. I like frog legs. I would like to know more.
And crayfish using baited lines, traps, pots, nets, or seines. I also like eating crayfish. I would like to know more.
Lake, river, snagging, trolling, ice fishing, archery fishing, spear fishing. If I can get onto a reservation then trotlines and jugs.
The state record fish is a carp just shy of 60 lbs. what line would I want to fight and keep that?
I do intend to get stuff specifically for fly fishing and ice fishing, (maybe even a fishing bow and spear) just not right now.
I would like to expand my op to include suggestions for gear for taking bullfrogs and crayfish.
