What kind of camping utensils do you use? I need a decent set of cutlery that won't rust from stirring a cup of coffee.

You're not gonna use the spoon to baton. Just get a thick plastic cutlery set. Or if you are opposed to that just grab a single spoon and fork from dollar store or something. I don't see the need for nasa engineered cutlery.

I get these marks on spoons too, when using them in black tea and coffee because the water here has a high mineral content and coffee and black tea somehow stick to that.

try cleaning it with lemon acid

Go to a thrift store and buy a single fork and spoon. I got some really nice silverware that's lasted me for years, the only downside is that it's a little heavier. Unless you're worried about fractions of ounces on super long trips, though, I don't think it'll make any difference.

yea i got a snow peak spork. Just under 10 USD, at REI, and it's titanium which means you don't have to worry about it and it's a cool novelty/conversation piece for non /out/ guests

Snowpeak sporks are deprecated meme tier garbage. The integrated fork and spoon means neither works properly.

If you want a working fork/spoon/knife than go Light My Fire. They even offer a Ti version if you feel the need but it's heavier than the plastic.

I have never understood the need for "special" camp utensils.
Ether grab a normal stainless steel spoon or bring those plastic disposable shits.

I bring ONE long handled steel spoon that I use for everything hot and a hand full of assorted plastic utensils to eat with when using a just a spoon don't work.
The spoon don't weigh much but is useful as fuck and the disposables weight practically nothing.
The spoon cost 25 cents and the plastics are normally free. I get them the same way I get my seasonings, by grabbing a few extra the rare times I eat out.

At the end of the day it is just a fucking spoon. How the fuck do you fuck up getting a spoon?

The stuff in the image you are posting isn't rust. It is stuff like tannins from foods and/or mineral deposits. I've seen the exact same thing on stainless steel.

I use wooden stuff I've carved myself.

ceramic is probable the only stuff you can get that won't gain/stain with tannins if you get a good one. Wood is good for things you want to have extra concentrations of and said concentrations won't go stale(spices and pureish chemicals), ceramic for coffee and things with a short shelf life, metal for flour and non-reactive or often cleaned(eating), wood(anything with the proper care and treatments).

the tines are long enough to properly stab and hold food and the spoon is wide and deep enough to eat soup.

its the only useful spork ive ever had and i liked it so much using it camping that i bought one for daily use in my work lunchbox

I've never had that problem. Providing you are cleaning them correctly (like normal utensils), maybe you are not using the right kind of tight-grained wood? Use cherry or maple, but not oak for instance. Oak is hard but the pores are not tight like cherry and maple are. Cherry is the best of common wood for cooking utensils and such. American sycamore can be used to.

This. I use plastic and it's fine. A fork and spoon each weigh less than a metal spork, even Ti. I threw in a butter knife for spreading peanut butter etc.

Lightweight, durable, cheap, does the job perfectly.
