There are usually plenty of walking sticks leaning on trees near my trailheads.

I usually grab one and try to return it. But usually get too fucked up and burn it in the middle of the night.

I use a 6ft white waxwood staff for hiking. I originally just used to carry it on my hikes to practice my kung fu forms on top of the mountain (it's a traditional shaolin staff).

I don't practice kung fu much anymore but it's actually a great hiking staff when you are going down hill. I can put so much of my weight on that thing it truly makes hiking a ton easier. Love it.
