Used to come here all the time as kids on our fourwheelers. Often 4 of us kids would hop on my Grandma's old Yamaha ATV, and she would drive us here. 2 kids sitting on the front rack, 2 kids on the back rack.

We call this "the ledge". The rocks piled up were stacked there by me 20 years ago or more when I was little. Just a small rock outcrop that we used to play on, build forts around, never camps here though.

Decided to try camping here last night. Hadn't been here in at least 10 years myself.

Got a small fire going. Hard to see but we cleared an area and built a small fire pit around it. This is on top of "the ledge".

Hanging our hammocks. We're new to hammocking, so far we all enjoy it. There are usually 2 others with us, but they couldn't make it. One is my brother, lives close so he later drove his Polaris Ranger over and sat by the fire with us (he had to work early so couldn't sleep over).

The land is part of our family farm. Several hundred acres (around 500 if I remeber). Our land intersects with several other families land, so we have over 1000 acres that we can camp on. Much of it is open (and active) farm fields though.

Chance of rain, so I hung my tarp. Ended up only a brief shower lasting maybe 1 minute. Didn't even have a drop hit the tarp since the tree cover was good.

OP here, definitely a fun night. We go several times a summer. We all have jobs, kids, houses, ect ect so we don't get out as often as we like, but we still go when we can.

This thread's great! I camp in my woods with my friends most summers, but this year it's been hard to organize. I will post pics when we do though! We usually go for long walks at night, there's this huge field and a long snowmobile trail through the forest so it's all kinds of fun.

As much as I like my trips up to the mountains and long hikes and such, sometimes it's nice to just hunker down out back in the comfort of your lifelong stomping grounds and enjoy the land you love.
