Anyone ever think about holding a Toronto meet up? Maybe near the Rouge or Humber rivers? Maybe Centre Island? I think getting a group of /out/ists together to spend an afternoon fishing or something of the sort would be fun.
We could probably manage to gather a few canoes and canoe to the Toronto islands? Or rent a boat for an afternoon?

theres literally no reason not to just go up to owen sound(or bruce) or orangeville.

i used to live in brampton and toronto sucks balls for /out/. i had to bike up to caledon anytime i wanted to do anything.

theres a hunting tract just past orangeville(1500 acres) if you guys are interested.

Brampton just plain sucks balls in every way possible (well the bike path from Mayfield down to the bus station is nice if I'm taking my bike to Caledon on the GO bus), but for a big city Toronto has some decent out stuff if you seek it out. Most of it is east of Yonge though (Don and Rouge valleys, Scarborough bluffs, Leslie St Spit, boating around the Islands). Not sure about meeting 4chan TBH but if you do go canoe the islands (there's a boat rental place east of the Center Island bridge) I can suggest spots.

heart lake park isnt that bad unless you go midsummer. still shit though. id like to hear your suggestions however i was unaware you could do anything in toronto without being surrounded by assholes and mudslimes.

since ive moved to orangeville ive never gone south of caledon except for work. i can bike to owen sound from a 100km trail that starts a block away from my house. its too bad theres no busses that go up there though. takes about 6-8 hours with 50lbs on gear on a 29er.

pretty easy to camp along as well, i took this route when i biked up to tobermory early this summer. i would have taken the parkbus, but i hate being in a crowded campground, was well worth the opportunity to stop along the way in all the little towns though.

this is flowerpot island, and island you could boat to if youre really hardcore. the waves get pretty crazy in georgian bay, not to mention the 20-50 km/h winds.
i took the ferry, you can camp on this island if you reserve far enough ahead.

Still not as bad as Brampton in that respect from what I've seen, and also still safer at night for the most part,

Like I said, Don Valley, Rouge Valley, Leslie St Spit, the Islands, and the eastern waterfront. When I got my first mountain bike I got a Map Art map and explored all the green spots for trails- there's lots of routes through public green space along power lines or drainages or whatever that aren't official parks. .

In the summer I like to kayak because it's easier to avoid the crowds - either the Leslie St Spit or Toronto Islands if I put in at Cherry Beach, or along the Scarborough Bluffs if I put in at Blamy Beach.

I like Orangeville a lot. Not enough to commute, but if I found a half decent job there I'd probably move myself.
