I was 13 at the time, inawoods walking 7 hours straight up the mountains, thinking that if I go upwards whenever I want to go back, I just have to go downwards after that....turns out it wasnt that simple. So having a pair of binoculars 8x30 zoom helped me see some parts of the road far away, and it was midday so the light was good, and basically 4 h later I ended up on one of the few roads, then I needed 7 more hours to get to the nearest village along the said road.
I had just the binoculars, a stick, and I had pancakes for breakfast. By ~9 pm things got scary on the road... and my father was missing for the next two days searching for me with some hunting buddies, while I was cozy at home lol... I was grounded for the rest of the summer :^)
