How do you guys dry out your water bladders?

I went on a hike over the weekend, and have been hanging this thing upside down since I got back, and it still has some water in it.

How the fuck do I get this thing dry so I can store it away without growing mold/mildew/etc.???

i have bigzip Platypussy .. filled her up today. she is still wet.

Ich habe den Verschluss quer in die Öffnung gestellt. So entsteht ein dauerhafter Spalt, durch den Luft durch die Trinkblase zirkulieren kann. Den Schlauch habe ich natürlich abgeklemmt.

Really?

Stuff a couple paper towels in there overnight if you're really worried about it.

I just leave mine filled in the fridge, stuff a bunch of ice in there and hook it up to the tube in whatever pack I take when I'm ready to go. Never had "funky" water in there.

You rinse it out, ya dingus. Don't use bladders but my friend uses grain alcohol watered down to clean it from anything that might be nasty.

The ones I have are valved at both ends - water in the tube stays in the tube, water in the bladder stays in the bladder.
Put the male end on the bladder side, that way you can push the valve in to bleed out the air.
O-ring seal, doesn't leak when it's connected. Pretty nice, industrial-strength n' shit so they can take some abuse. Believe they're the 1/4" PLC-series fittings.

The hoses are cheap, I buy a couple of those and run them through my packs, then put the CPC fitting on it.

My Platypussy Hoser takes forever to dry because of the small opening. I blow air in it so it's not just flat and set it in a warm place with the opening on top. Evaporated water rises, it works much better than just laying it flat.

Mix some purifying tablets or bleach with water and use that to rinse it out before drying if you're worried about bacteria.

stick a tennis ball or coke can inside to prop it open, leave it in your car for a day (if it has a large opening). i've used a wire coat hanger for the small opening ones but sometimes that leaves rust spots.

I use mine every weekend. And I clean it once every month with sodium carbonate water. After I come home, I empty the bladder, blow air through it and let it hang over the door of my closet.

I use a plastic coated wire hanger. You just need it to be a little open and then it dries just fine. There's a plastic doohickey you can buy at REI but it's hardly necessary.

A ping pong ball or two will do the job also.

Yeah I just have a dedicated coat hanger. Folded the plastic wire one in half and jam it in. Doubles as a drying rack in my closet so I dont have to worry about finding a spot to let it dry.
