Beach camping

No.559069 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
So have a hike I have been wanting to do and this weekend may be the weekend to do it.
There is a barrier island on the gulf of mexico I want to hike to the end of... kinda just to say I did it. (west end Dauphin Island, AL)
To the end is 10 miles and even though I have covered more than 20 miles in a day in the appalachians I don't want to feel rushed and enjoy it. So considering this my hike will involve a overnight stay which makes me even more excited about it.....
My question is any advise for a trip like this. Im used to the mountains, with tree cover, with fresh water to be found...
I want to travel light, I know water is a concern, and the weather is going to above 70 even at night but a pop up thunderstorm during the day that got me wet would make for a cold night with the ocean breeze...

and pic not related obviously
