>>559608I was young. Maybe 11. Maybe a bit younger.
It was in Florida, a family vacation.
Young me sees in the distance a corn dispenser, and multiple male peacocks nearby.
I think to myself, "I should feed those pretty birds some corn by hand". My dad went to the washroom and my sister was in charge over watching me (she's 5 years older).
So I saunter over to the corn dispenser and put in 25 cents, a handful of corn slides out.
Finally, the moment I was waiting for. Real animal interactions. I put my hand out to feed the pretty bird.
Little did young me know that every wild animal is not as nice as I would have thought. After I put my hand out to feed the peacock it jumped up and scratched the living hell out of my small arm. This whole attack part is kind of a blur - I think I was crying.
Parents of course come out frantically to me after they heard me wailing about. We dubbed that peacock and every other peacock "killer cocks".
We then went to Disney World. For those who have not been there, at night they have this event where they have multiple floats that are lit up go up and down the street. It was pretty cool - until I saw a giant peacock float.
It triggered my peacock PTSD.
That was my peacock story. Don't feed them corn by hand.
Pic unrelated, I am Canadian though.
