Let this be a stalking thread. About different stalking styles, walking techniques and animal encounters through awareness and being nearly silent.
I'll start
>Couple of years ago I start getting into hunting
>Eventually progress to bow hunting
>tree stands just aren't doing it for me anymore
>want to get on the ground with my quarry
>Start making my own bows
>Learn how to stalk from native friend and his Grandfather
>Start tracking
>one day I find a deer track still fresh
>follow it then see the deer in question
>Engage stalking mode =move so damn slowly
>being completely quiet and still
>creep silently closer and closer
>15 ft away
>decide to head left to where deer trail goes
>Still undetected
>settle in a bush 20ft away from deer along trail
>It decides to move on and heads my way
>Holy SHit its happening
>deer walks literally 1ft from my hiding place
>reach out hand and let it brush its flanks
>Charged with wonder o life and the experience
Elasped time = about 3 hours
My legs were so sore after from holding still for so long
Totally worth it. Next time I'm bringing a spear and will attempt to make a fully primitive kill.
now before you call bullshit or sh/out/ I can tell you that if you are patient enough and quiet enough you will see some amazing nature. anyone who stand hunts will tell you the incredible things they have seen while waiting silently
