Hey /out/, I have this piece of rough amethyst that I'd like to clean up a bit but still have the rough edges, and I don't have a tumbler. Could I sand the edges? Also: gem thread

When I shaped amethyst I used a file. I see no reason for sandpaper not to work just fine, you'd just wanna go from low to high grit as you polish it or else it'll leave lines and shit.

No problem. Ive found some before but never that much.

Anybody know if this is malachite or not? It was pulled from a lake in a copper rich area.

Well the thing si that everyone has their price. If I offered enough to the amber bearing anon he'd sell it for sure, but the amount he'd be willing to take for it surely outweighs the amount i'm willing to pay.

Sanding will work but you're gonna need a ton of elbow grease. I've got quartz I've been working on my bench grinder and it's a very slow process. Shit's hard as hell yo, a 7 hardness I think.
