How safe are California State Parks? More specifically Seqouia State Park? I'm heading up to go camping with a friend of mine on a camping ground there for about 4 days. This is the first time I've gone camping with only one other person and I'm a bit nervous.

Am I just being a scaredy cat? What are some tips you can give when camping with one other person?

Calm your tits, anon. State parks are, statistically speaking, some of the safest places to go in this country.

They're developed, they have entry and exit points and they are regularly traveled and patrolled.

If you're worried about animals, just keep a clean campsite, wear bright solid colors and make noise when hiking. This will help other predator species from confusing you with prey.

Thanks to president Obama, federal law has declared it A-ok to carry a firearm for protection in state parks.

Do that. I know it's California and your firearm avalibility is limited, but on the other hand, it's California, home to the majority of serial killers that use state parks to find victims.

this is horribly misinterpreted. Federal law has nothing to do with State Park systems. The change that happened is that despite being Federal property, National Parks and Forests have the same carry laws as the state that they're in. For those that cross state boundaries, it changes depending where int he park/forest you are.

A quick search says that concealed carry permit holders may carry in California State Parks, but you need to do more research if you want to stay legal.
