>>571433Well people use technical backpacks like Ospreys for backpacking and shit. If you aren't going to be going the distance on a trail dont bother getting one. Its made ofor comfort while you walking your 8 miles a day to your campsite.
>be me about to go on a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon>Aunt gives me old REI bag>seems comfy enough>get to hiking down hermit crab trail>Find out not enough padding in hip belt, and shoulder straps are feeling a little thin>By end of day my hips are bruised and It hurts to put any pressure on my hips with the belt>Dont tighten it all the way. But now my shoulders carry all the weight on those thin straps>My shoulders are hurting really badly now>hissmileandoptimismgone.jpg>Visible bruises all around my hips the next day>dont want to bitch so I tie my fleece jacket around my hips and tighten the hip belt around the jacket and it makes it bearable>Next day my bruises have semi healed. >Hike out with sore shoulders and bruised hipsFirst thing I did was buy a Kelty that made my next backpacking trip feel tons better
If the dudes not doing shit like that then an ALICE pack is fine. I own two of them. But If I am going to be going the distance a nice, Osprey bag will make a trip feel like absolute bliss. I only own a day bag from them, but I will buy a nice Talon 44 from them.
