I use to have a phobia of grubs. Like any kind of grub or larvae. I had dreams where I was running through a grub and worm infested floor and I fell and they started writhing all over me. I had another dream where a leech escaped from its bowl that for some reason I had in my house, and started attacking me.

My only other phobia is trypophobia. That shit fucks me up righteously. But ever since my biology courses I stopped have such bad aversions. Ill see some stuff in the outdoors and I will get goosebumps instantly and start shaking. Yah it kinda sucks. But at least its not a fear of like big cats or germs.

I've rode by some fresh meth labs innawoods. Smell 'em before you see 'em. I'm sure there was someone nearby on one I ran across a few years ago. Marked in GPS, nope'd right the fuck outta there.

Avalanches are something else that scares the fuck out of me. Got a couple friends that have been caught/buried in them, and from what they have to say I'm perfectly happy not experiencing that myself.

whelp, HUNDREDS of cockroach grubs crawling under my door into my apartment. they were spread all over my apartment, under my bed, etc. i opened the door and some jackass had just discarged a trash bag in the hallway and there were thousands of cockroach grubs crawling out of in invading the whole floor. it was a terrible terrible night. i had to hunt them down by hand and flush them all down the toilet, including all the ones out in the hall plus taking that disgusting trash bag down to the dumpster. FUCK i would have captured and tortured the fuck to death if i ever found out who did it. and no regrets either, ever.

I live in the city now but when I was a kid we lived in rural Alabama on a large plot of land that was used as a summer camp and a retreat center the rest of the year. There was almost no lighting. Walking between buildings at night was scary as fuck. We were surrounded by a lake and forests that went on for miles and miles. Watching wildlife camera traps on tv now makes me think there must have been a bobcat, wild dog, or space alien watching me every step of my childhood. I often think about buying a remote innawoods cabin but wonder how many times I'd end up freaking out in the middle of the night because of some unexplained noise outside.

As far as phobias go I don't have one per se, I live by the sea and go swim to the ocean quite regularly, when I dive a little far from the shore and can't see the bottom I get a bit nervous, fucking giant squids pulling me down always comes to my mind.

I grew up swimming in a coastal saltwater lake and was always scared that the seaweed I brushed up against was a shark or something (the lake is so big it's been known to have great whites on occasion), but there's a more practical reason I try to avoid it; sea lice often infest seaweed. Had some brush the length of my torso once and was itchy for hours, plus the bites sting when the salt aggravates them.

Pic related is my biggest fear out on the lake though. They're a type of scallop that grow vertically from the lake bed and are so sharp that it takes a while to feel the pain in your foot getting sliced open when you step on them.
Apparently they taste good though.

I had huge irrational fears about the "monsters" in the water (especially when it's deep and full of seaweed), and being alone in the woods at night (the "monsters" at every corner of the eye or even worse, following me silently).

So I decided to not stay a bitch and confront those fears and it's amazing how fast it goes away: I spent 2-3 nights walking in the woods and 3 hours in the water (making sure to go exactly where I was affraid of, that is underwater among the seaweeds) before it vanished, now I still have a very little apprehension but it just needs more practice.

I'm deathly afraid of deep water. My fear faded some when I learned to swim and worked on a boat, but it was made worse when a "psychic" told me to "Stay away from water, it is there you will die". I'm not a very superstitious person but it really freaked me out.

I climb and mountaineer and have a solid fear of heights, in my experience that's pretty common.

I am irrationally afraid of flying things with stingers. Big, fast spiders? no problem. Little yellowjacket? I'm gone. I've been at war with some giant bell hornet's in my shed for the past 3 months.

Not a crippling phobia, but far more stressful for me than most people i know.

I remember having this dream once where I was on top of a mountain. The dream took place at nightime, it was foggy and kind of greyscale in color. I remember it was windy with fast moving low clouds.

I remember being afraid during this dream. I feel like it was a combination of raw exposure to the elements, poor situational awareness and the threat of being so high that the air was thin/approach space kind of thing.

Occasionally when I go night hiking I've found myself in conditions similar to these and while I'm usually fine sometimes I find that paranoia come creeping up and I freak out a bit.

I absolutely love swimming. I will swim hundreds of yards off shore no problem...as long as it doesn't get over 50 ft or so. If I can see or reach the bottom, Im good. I once ran into a few tiger sharks a hundred yards out, and I felt a bit nervous, but ultimately fine. We went parasailing later that day, and it was so fucking creepy. I couldn't see my legs just feet from the surface. There also seemed to be this weird shelf where the temp drops drastically. It seemed way too definitive. Like everything from 6 feet below and up is warm, but anything a quarter of an inch deeper is cold as ice.
Then I started thinking about all the times Ive heard we can only search so much of the ocean, that so many species are undiscovered...that freaked me the fuck out.
I probably looked fucking ridiculous. I was the only one in the water, so that made it worse. I didn't want my feet below that cold point. I knew that it was the krakens/cthulus territory. I had to swim back to the boat with my legs tucked in as much as possible without letting the people on the boat know I was about to drop a turd.

Used to be afraid of heights, like I couldn't jump from a 15ft cliff into the water. Then I went bungy jumping to cure it, jumped 720 feet bungy jump and it was alright.

But ants. Crawling en masse. Ant hills in particular. Super irrational, but when I see ants crawling I get sweaty and light headed.

Also swimming next to giant objects, like a big ship that's docked or something.

the hoover dam one is unbelievable to see. like most spillway drains it has giant concrete bumps all down it to slow the flow of water and discourage erosion, which means if any debris or person goes down it they become gound meat by the end.
