>>577685i never said it was lubricant. that has nothing to do with anything here. it's good (i.e. acceptible) to prevent rusting without corroding or polishing. it's a good gentle cleaner, it doesn't dry up, and it prevents rust. also, even according to the WD-40 FAQ most of the ingredients in WD-40 are lubricants.
that said, yes, i do realize it's not the appropriate oil but it's perfectly safe to use if that's what you have on hand. a heavier oil or gun oil would be best.
