College is starting up again, /out/. How do you deal with the crippling depression that comes with being forced to spend most of your time inside?

by only taking a few credit hours a semester (9 this semester) only have class on tuesday and thursday, so i spend the rest of my time /out/ another great aspect is I can afford it and im not going into debt.

College doesn't force you to spend your days inside. You are in class for 3-5 hours each weekday, right? Do your homework outside, go fishing mornings/evenings, find local places to hike, take weekend camping trips, etc.

I went to college in downtown Boston but I had the best science professor ever. He had been associate director of the New England Aquarium and he took us on /out/tings - on the college's dime! We spent a whole day in vinyards and around Buzzard's Bay, we spent a whole mucking around in a brackish swamp, and then one week he spontaneously decided we should do an overnight winter campout and the next fucking week we did it. Again, he always got the college to pay for the whole thing. He died right after that, it was horrible.

Well my campus is in Northern Ontario and sits on 291 hectares of woods on top of an escarpment so I do /out/ things between classes. My program also allows me to be outside a lot with field camps etc.

This might sound really stupid, but I play Unreal World when I haven't been able to go /out/ in a really long time because of school/work.

It's not the same by a long shot, but it's better than nothing. Really wish they would let fans throw in/mod in more scenery pictures though, it would make the experience stay fresh, give a more exploratory feel to it.

Yeah I just graduated and I work five days a week now, I didn't realize how much time I wasted in college. I'm /out/ probably 2/4 weekends a month so far. That being said, I'm buy a recurve bow this week and setting up a target in my yard so I can be /out/side and acquire real skills in the evening instead of being in front of the computer or tv.

Exactly me. Getting my /out/ fix in summer is tough because Southern summers are like sitting in Satan's sauna. Fall and winter are the good times. Plus my college friends are outdoorsy so that's nice.

Thinking about making a little hut in the aforementioned 30-minutes-away-woods to escape to every weekend. Fuck going to parties. This is having a real effect on my mental health. I thought I would be able to live in the city if I was able to get out every week or so, but just the little things like not being able to see stars or hear the crickets at night, and the constant sound of traffic, and the lack of solitude are starting to get to me.
