>>579071>If we don't have the prince in account, which steel would you choose for some all around edc folding knife?>edc folding knife?420HC steel. It holds an edge very well, requires little care, should withstand reasonable pressure, and is cheap enough to replace when lost or stolen.
If you need something that can really take a beating, either 1060 or 1090 steel, but you'll be oiling it much more often that any stainless steel blade.
As for >m390, s30v, s35vn, m4, cpm154, cts-xhp, vg10, s90v, d2
I'd have to research those steel compounds. In my studies, they haven't come up. I've been looking mostly* into aerofoils and life-safety riggings so it's mostly been structural metals for me.
*I've also done some research into metals best for blades, but it's been mostly swords and machetes so what I've found doesn't really apply to the >edc folding knife
crowd.
9260 spring steel is the best steel for swords and machetes that I've come across so far, but has to be cared for very often and is extremely expensive for something you're gonna swing around in the woods.
