I rode 200 km once, 100km to, then back, the first leg tooks a bit more than 3 hrs. The way back took close to 5, but I was carrying extra pounds. I didn't bring too much, just water and food since I know I would not get in trouble, worst case scenario is flat tire then I was going to hitch a ride from strangers (lots of car traffic and experiences from the past told me that folks outside of the city generally offer help if you need/look like in trouble).
I was laying down for a bit on the side of the road to enjoy the nice weather and quite a few people stopped and asked if I needed help.
I underestimated the ride, I thought it was about 80km, I packed light, just some water and peanut butter toast. I got cash on me, brought my credit/debit just in case. Got on my road bike, very happy to head out, it was beautiful day, light breeze.
Long story short, start at 10am, got close to destination between close to 2, lost address, going and look around for close to 3 hours. Finally got it right, did the thing, got the stuff, headed back around 6pm. Ate lots of subways (2 footlong) before rode back. Got back at 12.
I drank lots of water, didn't pee. After that I could see the layer of salt on my backpack. Since then the longest I did was about 100 (50 out, 50 back) with virtually no load, more enjoyable that way.
