Strong bag to carry car battery?

Thought this would be the best place to ask, I need a new bag to carry a car battery for my hunting lamp, the random shitbags I've had before couldn't even handle a quad bike battery for a few months before tearing.

So I guess what I need is a comfy to wear, strong stitched, hard wearing material, padded for my back, army type bag?

Any help please?

Why do you need a car battery for a "hunting lamp"? Would a smaller motorcycle/atv/lawn mower battery not suffice?

Jansport (yes...cheap-ass Jansport), used to make a leather bottom (or faux leather bottom) backpack. I still have one and it is what I use to carry my battery for flounder gigging. I use either a lawnmower battery (bulky) or a small motorcycle battery. I put both an an unsealed gallon zip-top bag for added protection.

Before the pack with the leather bottom, I went through a couple of cheap ones that failed with the tearing you mention. I prolonged their usefulness by putting a towel layer under the battery.

I could buy a lithium battery with 22AH for 200£ but fuck that when I can get a 41AH acid battery for £50

I used a hoodie under the quad battery but the bag was some really bad freebie from a dog food company

What sort of light are you using that drains a quad battery too quickly? I use a 500 lumen LED tactical light when hunting wild hogs at night, it's bright enough to let me take 80-100 yard shots on a moonless night.

I'd seriously look into a LED light over a halogen for what you're doing. You can find good 500-900 lumen lights that can take standard rechargeable lithium batteries and will weigh less and be nowhere near as bulky as your current setup even when carrying 4-5 extra batteries with you.

If you insist on using your current setup I'm afraid I can't really help you; I've never attempted to carry a car battery in a backpack before.

Just checked the dead battery it's actually a motorbike not quad battery, weighs 3.5kg , weight isn't the issue its the price of lithium and that they don't last as long as I would want for the price, thing is that buying a new lamp means more money when my lighforce isn't very old and would be wasted sitting about

I have bag in Pic related. Its shit quality and really big. Seems unravel and any small snag on it causes rips and threads come loose.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. You might need to make a custom setup using an old alice frame and somehow strapping/lashing the battery to the frame itself.

This is very close to what I use. It's typically sold in US auto part stores (Autozone, O'Riley). It will power a standard GE round incandescent headlamp most of the night while flounder gigging (4+ hours of constant on). Granted, it is not halogen.

However, I also use it for spotlighting with a 1M+ candlepower light. This goes through on/off for hours and I've never seen it run down the battery.

You can get that battery checked to make sure it still has the amps or get another of the same and run them parallel. It would be easier carrying two of them than it would a car battery (even a small car battery).

No, the weight is fine. It's more the hard edges and corners that'll wear them down, so wrap the battery in a towel or something.
