I hiked the JMT "solo" (you see and get to know a lot of people on the trail). I've done one hike for 2 days solo in a very remote area where I saw no one until I left, which was very fun.
>Get dropped off by my good friend
>Forgot tea in his car, but he's a homeboy and ran it to me
>motherfucker saved the trip...I was mixing vodka with that shit
>I've hiked this shit before, so I know my way around and it's only 23 miles of bushwhacking along a river.
>About 5 miles in a rattle snake scares the fuck out of me
>He fucks off and we both go on our way
>Get to camp way earlier than expected (my usual hiking partner must be slow as fuck)
>Like serious saved 2 hours of time to get there
>Set up camp with more daylight than expected
>Get a fire started and pour some drinks, roll a joint, pop some painkillers
>Read my kindle to kill the extra time
>Nighttime falls and i'm happy the campfire keeps the buggyman away
>Doesn't keep spiders away apparently because there are a fucking million of them
>Destroy those spawns of Satan throughout the night
>Drink 1/5 of vodka and play majoras mask on 3DS
>Beat the Snowhead Temple
>Missionaccomplished.jpg
>Crash out for the night
>Proceed to finish the rest of the hike the next day and get picked up by said homeboy
I honestly really enjoy solo hiking man... you meet way more people and can do exactly what you want when you want. I don't get scared at night really, which was unexpected. On the JMT I even was solo in campsites by myself, in thunderstorms without a fire and was perfectly fine. I bring my kindle to keep me occupied and go through books fast as fuck.
