Some good tips in this thread, let me reiterate based on my own experience:
Have a trusted friend with you to monitor you and ensure that you don't do anything too dangerous, and so that you don't freak out. Preferably be outside, it's a much more visceral experience that way, but like I said have someone with you to ensure that you don't get into a lot of trouble somehow, or fall down a hill and die. Drink lots of water beforehand, and eat the mushrooms in a mixture of something, rather than all by themselves. The water is to aid in digestion, and the meal/tea/whatever you use is to make sure that you don't get nausea after ingestion. Eating mushrooms raw on an empty stomach is a great way to throw them up and waste them, and when you add on the spaced out dizzy feeling you get when it's first coming on, that's a situation you really don't want to find yourself in. Finally, don't go into this experience thinking that you'll happen upon a life changing theory or a moment of clarity while you're high. Your experience will probably not change your life. It will, however, give you an increased sense of all that is going on around you. Your senses will be heightened to extreme levels. The smallest, most insignificant event will be beautiful, magnificent, almost godly. That's the true beauty of mushrooms.
