How does /out/ make their coffee at home and in the woods?
I use a french press at home with a small bit of milk.
Out I use a little stainless steel basket (pic related) in my 1L mess cup, along with some powdered/dehydrated milk.
It's light, works well and fits perfectly in my mess kit, but I'm wondering if anyone has a better system.

Camp coffee when out, or I stick a filter in the tea infuser on my thermos "tea timer" mug like so.

tried it once with a friend while backpacking it was awesome coffee with fresh ground beans

I did use one of those little baskets for a while... Ended up jibbing it off and taking pre-prepared coffee bombs (coffee wrapped in a filter which is elastic banded onto the top of me mug and water poured on) which work well and save on taking the basket, which doesn't fit in anything I have particularly well.

Just got link below for a canoe trip where less fucks are given about weight... And an ikea 2 AA battery milk frother for maximum luxury perfection. I've tried it a couple times at home and it's good shit (once a retarded design flaw is plugged up).

At home I'm using an aeropress my parents bought me, and really liking it so far. Milk in a nespresso milk heater/frother (also a gift from parents). Bit of chocolate powder, spoon of sugar, bit of hazelnut sauce. Sweet tooth. Happy I am with that setup.

for backpacking alone, or when no one else drinks coffee I often use freeze-dried singles. If at least one other coffee drinker comes along, I'll bring a percolator (pic related). I have a couple of different sizes, and they're not too inconvenient for backpacking as they are light and can be packed full of food and utensils. There's something about a coffee pot on the camp fire...

When it's cold I just do tea but never in the morning. I used to say I would but gave up on breakfast all together. All I ever want to do when I'm longer in my sleeping bag is get back on the trail. Warm food/tea sounds good but waiting for it is a hassle and every minute not spent moving only makes me colder.

Me too, I have some instant coffee that I put in a small jar. The powder takes up less room and weight than bringing just coffee grounds. Once you have all that gear it just seems crazy.

I might bring coffee and gear car camping but even then it seems like a waste of space/weight.

This is what I consider to be "turkish style" where you literally boil enough water for whatever serving you're preparing and boil the ground coffee + sugar in the pot with the water. Once it's done foaming, you then literally poor the whole mess into a mug, or drink out of the pot and spit out grinds as needed. It's quick, it's easy and it's one less thing to haul around when /out/.

Fyi, the bodum press mechanism fits perfectly in the cheap Stanley small stainless cook set. I know this only because I broke the glass on my bodum and I'm too cheap to spend $20 for a replacement. $7 and wally world and I get a pot I can boil the water in as well.
