1. cut the Soda. Drink plain water (lots of it) or unsweetened herbal tea.
2. stop eating convenience food, prepare your meals yourself, make sure you get a healthy balance in nutrition and cut the serving size a bit.
3. Once a week, pig out, eat your favorite double bacon cheese burger with chili cheese fries. Because a) that way your body wont go in starvation mode and stop burning calories and b) you need a break every so often or you wont make it for very long.
4. Cut down on alcohol, drink only on your pig out day or when you did some serious excising as a reward.
5. do walk a lot, or ride a bicycle, every hour you move on your own feed daily will help.
6. try find a sport/exercise/activity you love, no matter how silly it might be, if you love it, you will do it with joy and often. Do it 2-3 times a week.
So yeah, 2/3rds is food/drinks, the rest is just getting a little more active. Also, don't overdue it, reward yourself from time to time, that helps keeping it up in the long run.
