>>591537I've had a Savage Axis II XP in .243 since last August. It was my first rifle. The scope was just a couple inches off at 100 yds so was easy to zero in. I really do love this gun. The scope isn't total garbage; I still have the stock one on mine, and it works just fine. In the pic you can see I added a cheek riser and bipod.
I have 2 hog kills with it so far, 100 yds and 75 yards. Both perfectly placed, quick kills. The gun is more than good enough, you just have to get your shooting up to par before getting into the woods, expecting to humanely kill a deer at 250+ yds.
You made a good choice, anon, I'd stick with it. I almost wish I got a .308... almost.
