Straw bale compost bin

No.594490 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hey /out/. I didn't see a question thread so I thought I'd make my own thread. I'm building a self-sufficient homestead in the woods; cabin's almost done, firewood shed is almost done, chicken coop is done, and the spot for the garden is cleared. My question is about using straw bales as a compost bin. I see a lot of people doing it, but, is it a fire hazard? Composting generates heat, and the location of my compost bin is in partial sun and near several low hanging trees. So I'm worried about starting a forest fire and loosing my cabin and chickens. (I like the idea of straw bales because it's sustainable and organic unlike plastic/treated wood/etc)
So does anybody else think it seems like a fire hazard or am I worrying too much? Composting thread.
