I was just out a bit in the woods for a cigarette and heard a lot of strange noises

how do you cope with all the shit you hear at night when outdoors?

requistit always remember before i say this, never use all your ammo make sure you have extra ammo before doing this

but basically at night i carry 3-4 mags for ar15, hear soem sounds mag dump maybe 15 rounds toward it. this is at pitch black night not daytime. but anyway things quiet down usually right after but stay lock and loaded just in case.

I can only hear out of one ear. If I hear spoopy noises when I'm trying to sleep while camping or something then I just roll over and put my good ear to the pillow. Everything is then quiet and peaceful.

I normally use a set of Peltor swat tac but I also have a set of Howard Leights impact sport that I used to use which were also very effective. Both are pretty good at picking up low level noises around you and amplifying it.

They are also very helpful if you have to discharge your firearm in a hurry.

A good trick is to only pay attention to rhythmic noises, like someone or something walking. Crap falling from trees or being blown around by the wind shouldn't concern you.

Mostly if I hear the usual coyotes or bats at night, I don't really worry about those.

If you hear load crashing a bumbling, could be a bear just going for a walk, but he won't bother you, he's not hunting if he's making all that noise.

I had a black bear stalking me at camp for about 5 hours. It kept coming to my camp, I'd get bold and chase it away, and then 40mins later it would come back. It did this like 6 or 7 times until at 2am I was so tired and couldn't sleep so I packed my shit up and hoofed it out of the woods.
