>>598444So here is my counter argument to this, not saying I believe in bigfoot.
I live in one of the most populated black bear counties in the world. It's actually legal to hunt black bear in the winter, something unheard of in most of the U.S.
I live in the mountains, my job is in the mountains, and my hobbies are in the mountains. In my entire 26 years of existence, I have seen a black bear in the woods maybe 2-3 times? And I've yet to come across a dead / decaying black bear. The woods are dense, bears have pretty good hearing so they probably get spooked when they hear me, but considering the amount of black bears why haven't I seen more?
If bigfoot exists, and there's only a handful in the U.S., and say they have hypersensitive hearing, smelling, or sight, I think it's perfectly plausible that they exist. And in my experience, it's mostly those who grow up in cities who really don't know how dense and deep our forests and parks actually are.
Actually regarding trappers, I recall a story in Theodore Roosevelt's journey about a friend of his who was a trapper relaying a story of coming across something similar to a Sasquatch, I'll find it if you want, pretty interesting.
