I wouldn't. If SHTF it's too late to start learning survival skils. Would bring a book of maps instead.

Ive got close family who are in the medical profession, so i would bring like an edible plant book. otherwise a book detailing emergency medical procedures would be a good idea in my opinion.

why an ebook reader is like a library compared to nigger tier paper books.

you can't use it for tinder or wiping your ass that is a con, but i'm ready to make that compromise.

with a solar charger you just load it up once a month, hell maybe you could crank charge it or something.

I have a good army surviv guide on my phone. It has a lot of good information on eduble plants in different regions, how to prep semi edibles, collecting water in some very interesting but completely practical ways ( trash bag transpiration, rags on the ankles, tree wells). I have most of that stuff memorised but not the emergency medical stuff or all the medicinal plants. Pretty good guide overall. Packing lists based on environment and terrain/ length of expedition.

I've got a copy of the US Army Survival Handbook laying around somewhere. I read through it once and it has all sorts of good information on a large variety of topics that would be helpful in a survival/shtf situation.

i just want these gems from his life experience like building a solar still pretty much always makes you lose more water in sweat and evaporation than what it provides and stuff like that. these are real nice, why couldn't he just published this list of advice with an appendix of citations and description of the experiments? it would be a gem. tho one must be mindful of all the factors like exact environment weather whatnot...

Heh. If you're really in a survival situation, you don't have time to read a book. Better read it before you leave.

I'd rather pick a good /out/ related book that can double as a guide. Jean-Baptiste Labat's diary during his trip in the Caribbean is absolutely perfect for that.
