It's all the same material but at least the Polartec brand tends to list their items by weight / thickness; Polartec 100, 200, 300.
My particular gripe is that while there are a bazillion different kinds of fleece jackets and vests, _heavy weight fleece pants_ are rare as hens teeth and are very difficult to track down on-line, with the added annoyance that conventional sweat pants are frequently listed as "fleece", making the search even more difficult.
I've been looking around for some reasonably priced Polartec 200 or 300 weight pants for layering but primarily for lounging around the house in winter, though wading thru hundreds of unrelated items on Amazon causes my head to swim....
