I've lived most of my life in a Midwestern city and once spent two days in the Nevada desert after driving a friend to Cali several years ago. It had just rained so there was a bloom and it was amazing.
Since then I have romanticized about spending real time in the desert. I've camped a lot but most of it was with our tents less than a hundred yards from our cars. I have gone kind of deep into the Shawnee National forest a few times and done other rough camping a few times but the desert is a different beast.
I was hoping some anons who spend time in the deserts in western America could talk about their adventures.
What could Ihunt to eat and would my .17HMR bolt action suit mt needs? How do I know what's edible. How do I set up camp so I don't get eating by the fauna?
