>>603118SLC proper has decent street trees (especially in the older areas), so it can in parts. On the whole, though, I would say no. The mountains are pretty easily accessible; just go there.
Here are my thoughts on Utah.
The good:
>Gorgeous nature Pic related is an easy hike from my front door. Maybe 4 hours round trip. There are also a lot of different biomes in the state - there are high mountains Eastern / Northeastern Utah, redrock desert in the South, and Basin and Range-style desert in the West.
>easy navigation, at least in older areasMormon Grid
>Mormons They get a bad rap (especially among non-Mormons living in Utah), but I've found them to be excellent neighbors.
>Gun LawsIf you plan on moving here and voting for anti-gun politicians, it might be better for everybody if you looked into California instead. Politics are what you would expect for a red state, in general. Poor environmental protections, though ;_;
>strong economyLow unemployment, plenty of job opportunities. Too much multilevel marketing crap.
The Bad:
>Wintertime InversionsSalt Lake is great because it's surrounded by mountains, but those mountains also trap cold air in the wintertime. It gets horribly polluted; we frequently have the worst air quality in the country during the winter.
>Mexicans"Ayy puto, viva la raza! Gringos stole this land, we been here for a million years." Largely confined to western SLC, West Valley, Wendover, and parts of Ogden.
>Park CityDon't go there.
>CorruptionReal estate developers have pretty obviously bought off the state legislature, leading them to waste our tax dollars on stupid things like trying to repossess federal land within the state's borders so they can sell it to their cronies. They've decided to move the state prison (at a cost of several billion dollars) despite massive public opposition, and openly boast about how much money the developers will make when they build yet more unnavigable suburbs on the old site.
