>>60675Fisheries researcher here. The majority of my research involves heavy machinery and commercial fishing methodologies. I work with all different types of power generation, hydraulics, fishing techniques, etc. For the most part I use hydraulic net reels for gill netting powered by small honda generators.
That is just a small background of what I do.
A pocket multi-tool is the NUMBER ONE thing that I have on me at all times. I recommend the leatherman wave, it has closed tool multiple blade accessibility that I require. Doing random shit like needing a bait knife (heavily serrated blade) or a straight blade for fine cutting is what I primarily use the tool for.
A tool like that on a boat at your ready grasp with knives planted all over the boat (we use hard styrofoam dug out floats zip tied up to have the knives everywhere easily accessible and available for emergencies) is the number one thing for getting the job done and not dying.
This model is not one of their "pocket" versions, but I like it because the pliers on these things have NEVER busted on me and the easy to flip out bait and fine blades are fuckin bad ass.
Keep on fishin brothers.
