You know why poachers use .22lr to hunt dear? It's because its fucking quiet. It has nothing to do with the payload it delivers, as they don't care, they simply want to kill the dear while remaining unnoticed. If .22anything was good enough for hunting deer, do you really think they would have laws restricting you to .357 or up? Fuck, most people agree .270 is weak for deer at any considerable distance. You are talking about a bear, were you will likely only get one shot, and that shot will be while he is mauling you. You will not kill a bear in one shot, you simply wont, even if you hit it in "the soft spot of the skull", which you wont, because have I mentioned the fucker is eating you, a .22anything simply isn't reliable enough to put the bear down.
