>>607819I was in a bag financial situation a few years back and it was coming up to winter, I didn't have a good coat for the weather and where I live it can easily get down to -20 in a normal winter and much worse in an exceptional one, I'd tried the old layering trick in the past and it does work but it's a pain in the ass to put on and take off all that shit, I happened to be walking near a place that sold work wear and saw a high visibility parka that was very cheap, I went in and checked it out, it was very strong and the padding was thick, I had just enough money to buy it, it was a great parka although your never going to blend into the background wearing, the second year before it got to winter I bought a couple of tins of black spray paint and sprayed it all over so now it's nice and black.
You could also try looking on Ebay or Craigslist for good used gear, check thrift stores and Facebook will often has items for sale in your local area if you check the group listings.
