>>612314Depends on the shtf scenario. If something that's gonna be indefinite, I'm just gonna shoot myself. If civilization as we know it now will return within a couple years, I'll likely be storing it in a central, guarded location with the rest of my neighbors to keep any bandits from getting it. If short enough that I'm not going to have to take up subsistence farming, probably either behind the drywall, under the floorboards, in the attic(potentially under the fiberglass insulation), buried in caches around my property, or any combination of the above depending on how stable the situation is.
I also plan on supplementing my food supply with fish, game, and wild edibles wherever possible.
I live pretty far from any city with a population higher than 800, I don't tell anyone about my supplies, and all my neighbors are farmers, so I don't anticipate having to share much, if any, of my food, and I'm pretty sure I can make it at least 2 years before I run out of my current food supplies.
I also have a huge garden and plenty of seeds, and will likely trade seeds for corn/soybeans/wheat with my neighbors if it gets to the point where I need to start growing more food. In fact, the biggest thing I'm not prepared for is heating/cooking fuel, since I've only got about 6 weeks' worth of propane at normal use, and the only trees in the area are windbreaks, which will be gone as soon as winter hits.
