so this little hurricane blew in. we had all our shit tied up by the bridge we were building, and this shitty little tropical storm turned into a hurricane and we were on the wet side. so i'm half drunk at my condo watching it come in and i get the call.
a barge had already broke loose and everything else needed shoring up. so i said lets go. the very first barge we touched was fucked. it had a spall system on it and the spall wire broke. that was when i took off my raincoat. at that point fuck it.
eventually we got the spall up and moved that barge. then we moved more barges. the whole time im on the front of these barges a fucking hurricane is happening.
at one point we go through this channel and the barge i am standing on buckles below the tug. i thought i was going to die but i climbed up on the tugboat.
when the storm finally calmed down i had to swim to the stranded barge. all in all i got paid 200 bucks that day, far less than it was worth. but i have a great fucking story that office workers never have.
i only work jobs that provide stories. fuck corporate shit.
