So I recently got a hammock for free, and I was thinking I might try it out for some warm-weather camping or just general laziness.

The problem is, it doesn't have any strings attached (pic related).

What would be the best way to attach strings to it and hang it?
A bunch of strings meeting at a metal ring, with another rope going from that ring to a tree?
Braiding all of the strings together and then somehow making that into a loop?

It came with a couple of bars and some metal hook-rings, but I'd rather not use the bars to keep the weight and bulk of it down.
