the image I posted before shows 2D models of cube neo-magnets, and the arrows represent the force and flow direction of the magnetic flux
by manipulating the position of the magnets, we're forcing magnetic flow from one magnet to disrupt and carry the magnetic flow along it's own magnetic flow-path, but then it's magnetic flow is disrupted and carried by another magnet
and so on in that fashion until you stop or pull it into a circle
