OP snares work well for rabbits. I've trapped quite a few in the last few weeks, loads of them around my area.

As for tips, find what trail they use and put whatever trap you prefer on it, bait it with a bit of vegetable or something.

There was a drifter thst would camp in the paddocks next to a abandoned train line by my fathers old house that would snare tgem and catch more than enough to eat each day. Thin wire snares tied to the lowest wire on a fence where you can see active game trails they are using.

When i was a kid we would make fishing line traps outside their holes, and attach them to sticks, you have to set alot of traps to get one though. and check them regulary to be humane. In theory they snap their necks, in partice not that often.

Use a large rat trap. Just make sure to secure the trap to a tree, bush or peg with a piece of small rope. I would suggest buying a large commercial rat trap (the kind like in cartoons), drill a 1/4" hole near one corner & using a piece of 550 cord to secure it i place.
Bait the trip bail using peanut butter with small chunks of veg in it.
