>>658757Well, as has been mentioned earlier, there's the discounted grazing fees he gets to pasture his herd on land he never owned. $1.35 AUM (animal unit month) which is far Far FAR lower than he would get on state or private land. Private grazing fees on the same kind of land could cost up to $20/AUM, who do you think eats the cost of that extra $19.65/AUM? Uncle Sam does. Of course in Cliven Bundy's case he didn't even pay the $1.35 so he got free access to land he does not own to make commercial profit.
Then there's $30-$40 billion yearly in beef industry subsidies that have also been covered earlier in the thread.
Then there's $550 million in free marketing and advertising that the USDA gives beef producers every year. Beef! It's what's for dinner! That adds I think about $40 billion in sales each year.
Then there's stuff that doesn't directly put money in Bundy's pocket but makes it a lot easier. Like fuel subsidies for the trucks and trains that carry his beefvto market, subsidies for veterinary science research that produces higher yield per cow. And all the money the government spent on hydrologyband irrigation that makes farming and ranching in a desert even possible in the first place.
All in all the government has spent billions to make sure that Clive Bundy can make a living putting steaks on our plates and all they asked him to do was pay a token $1.35 AUM to graze his cattle.
That's one hell of a god damn good bargain.
The fact of the matter is that Cliven Bundy denies the authority of the Federal Government but reaps the benefit of its existence every single day.
Some day, when you're not an angry 19 year old and your parents aren't paying your internet bill anymore, you'll understand how much work it takes by the government to keep this utopia of cheap steaks and high speed internet afloat.
