The lake where I fish has finally opened for ice fishing.
There is a guide that rents a tent and gear for 40 bucks a day.
I think I will try it this year.
Any tips?
I will be targeting pike and rainbows

There's nothing wrong with a tent, but it kinda takes something from the experience. Ice fishing is at its best when the sun is shining and it's calms.

Use thick line, there's nothing worse than snapping the line when ice fishing.

The biggest fish I could hope to catch is about a 50 inch pike.
Providing I use braid or steel leaders , what pound test should I be using?

15 lb braid should be more than enough use a leader ontop of it for other dishes

As a sweaty Australian, I am extremely fucking jelly. I wish I was nice and cold in an ice fishing hut right now.
