Hey fellow sc/out/s, part time co/ck/ here

Im going camping in vermont/new england in june, and i wanna cook using (at least partially) using things i find growing around me.

you guys know any good herbs/roots growing in new england?

also innawoods cooking general

Get a field guide for the area you are going to be in, the more specific the better.
A lot of things innawoods will have already been eaten in June, you might want to try a little earlier if you can.

That's about all I got. If getting into shrooms, please be careful. I more times than not pass on mushrooms unless I am 100% sure they are safe, aka I ate wild shrooms one time while camping. Everything else on that list is common and tasty.

You can eat the root of wild parsnip, but be careful not to get the juices from the stem or flowers or wherever on you, because that hurts like a bitch, or so I've been told. I live in Vermont, and it's everywhere in fields and such.

I am also interested in eating some local flora (Northern California/SF bay area). I know there's a good amount of wild berries and such that are edible but I'm more interested in mushrooms and other things for some outdoor cooking.
