Please help, the handle came off my reel and I have no idea how to get it back on, have I lost a piece?

There's a 90 degree angled pin inside the handle, that fits into the hole in the rod that connects either side of the handle to the reel.

When the pin goes in the hole, its off center so the notches/holes on the plastic of the handle dont line up..
