Recently have been getting more into urban exploring ive done it before but I am really new I live in the south plains of texas so i was wondering if anyone has any tips,story's or just anything about urban exploring or basic survival

Get a nice small pack, preferably black or another dark solid colour.

Mines a small single strap and I carry a camera, extra flashlight/batteries, small crowbar, gloves, first aid, string, and other miscellaneous things in it.

Mine is a dark green jansport with four pockets i carry two ropes two shitty flashlights two knives(you never know) lighter and a can of spray paint nothing to hardcore

Yeah me too. I have a knife as well, and I can always ditch my pack if I have too.

Though the times I have ran into security/cops I've either been able to avoid them or they just asked me to leave.

Also I assume the spray paint was on that list because they're anti graffiti/tagging.

Stockholm, Sweden. There are quite a few urban explorations sites but they've really started cracking down on it, boarding up places and putting up alarms/cctv because there's been incidents with peoply dying and stuff.

Nice, we walked that tunnel back in 2010. A bunch of writers were painting inside. Further up the line joins the active track and you have to run a short section of live track, climb up onto a platform and exit through an active station. Good times.

all you really NEED is a light and a sense of adventure.
everything else just helps you out.
as for some tips ill post a few
>wear durable good fitting pants (unless you like ripping your shit)
>boots are nice (lots of sharp things)
>gloves (cuts from rusty metal that's older than you arent very healthy)

We just kept following the track until we reached the live station I mentioned. I'm not from Stockholm, so don't know exactly where we started, or ended.

In stockholm I've done that tunnel, some t-bahn spots around the city (we had to use a drainage grille as a spanner to undo some bolts on a vent grille), Kymlinge ghost station.Elsewhere in the world I've done quite a bit.

the biggest thing i see holding my friends back from exploring is the fear of getting caught or getting hurt. now these are very legitimate concerns but for me the risk is worth the reward. you just gotta use some common sense and trust your instincts.

i know explorers that have never even got a trespassing ticket in over 30 years. why? because they are careful entering and exiting (when you are most vulnerable)
keep lights to a minimum you'd be surprised just how little you actually need to get around.
BE QUIET! sound travels fucking far if you are the only thing making noise (abandoned places are extremely quiet most of the time) security or other people usually aren't trying to ninja around if you walk with a light step and avoid kicking shit or talking too loud you'll hear others way before they hear you.

No spray paint.
Don't take ANYTHING.
Don't do any damage.
Have a camera so you can be "just taking pictures". Be ready to apologize and explain that you intended no harm and were "just taking pictures".
No firearms! No knifes other than a normal pocket knife. No weapons of any kind. If you are concerned for your safety take a trustworthy friend. Wasp spray works well in case you run into wasps; spray it in their eyes.

I'm not anything, I don't do it. I don't have any problem with it however.

Sorry, I wasn't attacking you personally. I just meant in general it seems like most of the graffiti I've seen is stupid shit. Fucking vandals ruin everything. Cool places get demolished much quicker because of them. Also, before it got demolished, was Danvers Asylum pretty much the holy grail for UEs? Even before Session 9 made it well known I mean.

masks are necessary for any location that has mould or asbestos. I reccomend a NIOSH certified P100, it will run you about 25 bucks and will keep out dust, some spores, and most importantly, asbestos.

There is plenty of debris for you to pick up. Fashion yourself makeshift tools; theres a reason why we are mammals of higher intelligence. Why ditch something you paid good money for when you can find sharp metal pipes that have longer reach than a flimsy folding knife you fuckers bought from walmart?
I find that marking your route is useful, but spray paint maybe unnecessary. Rocks can mark walls and doors just as well.

toxic mold spores usually will be most harmful for your type of exposure. we come into contact with carcinogens daily. Breathing some dust and asbestos realistically amounts to nothing when compared to second hand smoke, city smog, and drugs if thats your deal.

keep in mind that when people are actually dealing with mold and asbestos removal, they wear jumpsuits because that shit gets on your clothes too.

Asbestos is an accumulative thing you don't get hit in the face with a bag of it and get cancer. I'd know my entire town is ruined by it and we're one of the largest recent superfund sites in the nation for the clean up

mold is bad, however unless your willing to drop a few hundred bucks on a biohazard setup, there's no real affordable way to protect yourself other than limiting exposure. Asbestos is a hazard that can be avoided with proper precautions and affordable equipment. Also, it's one of the worst carcinogens you can be exposed to, and it's very difficult to measure just how much you are being exposed to
