They found the girl about a mile from the staging area, cold but otherwise healthy, an hour after I left the north lot.
I told them about the drunk HS kids... they got a kick out of that one.
One of my biggest complaints about SAR is their lack of riders on the crew. This is especially true in the winter on snowmobiles - None of those guys are active/regular sledders. They're all capable of riding a sled, but they're no more than novice riders on old equipment. I could easily outride them.
If I ever need rescue in the winter, I would MUCH rather have a small group of good sledders looking for me than twice as many SAR's doing the rescue.
The moto guys aren't bad riders, but it's still not something most of them do regularly.
