I've been on a few, weeklong hiking/camping trips. I have camped and hiked a lot all over the US. I've seen some remote areas, but the only "Paranormal" type thing I may have experienced actually happened only 3 miles from my house.
I was about 13, still believed in paranormal shit (I don't now, despite this experience). I asked my dad to take me to this graveyard in our town called "Adam's Cemetery". This is in wilbraham massachusetts on tinkham rd. It is a very old and historic cemetery in the area, contains some of the oldest graves in massachusetts. Some were soldiers of the revolutionary war. There have been rumors of sightings of apparitions in this cemetery by nearby residents. In particular one of the more famous stories was a sighting of a soldier.
Anyway, my dad took me there. It was halloween night (again in my mind I was still superstitious at the time and thought there was something special about halloween). It was still a bit light out but getting dark. We just walked around looking at the gravestones talking about what it would be like if ghosts were actually real. Then I heard a noise I will never forget. I refuse to believe in the paranormal, but it still creeps me the fuck out thinking about this. We heard some kind of scream, it didn't make sense though because it was so loud it's like it was right next to us. Literally the definition of a clood curdling scream, so close I thought there was someone next to me, but there was nothing. We just looked at each other and ran to the car without saying anything. Once we were in and driving away we started talking about it kinda nervously laughing attempting to make explanations.
Thing is, I still don't really believe in the paranormal. But I'm telling you, I can't explain what I heard that night. The cemetery was very open, the grave stones very thin and small. It was still light enough to see all around. There was NO ONE near us. We both agree on that fact. And yet this scream was too close...
