>>689678I use one. On multi-day hikes I only carry a hammock as they weigh less and take up much less space than a small 1-2 person tent does. On motorcycle trips I carry a hammock and a 2 person tent, I'll sleep in the hammock when the weather's nice and use the tent when it's gonna rain or if I'm camping somewhere with no trees (like the beach).
Get one with built-in mosquito netting and treat the whole thing with permethrin a few times before you use it.
